The National Land League launch Mayo branch

national land League mayo

Finally we’re up and running. The Mayo Land League, affiliated to The National Land League of Ireland today elected its new committee. People from all over the county met in Castlebar.

It was very fitting that a relative of the man who owned Daly’s Hotel, where The National Land League of Ireland held its first meeting on August 16th 1879, was there to endorse and actively engage in the proceedings. A very informative and often jovial meeting left no one in any doubt that the aims and ambitions of many active members will help to alleviate the burden imposed by banks on ordinary people and families.

Well done to each and every person who came yesterday. There were many others who, for one reason or another, couldn’t make it. This day was for you also and The Mayo Land League appreciates any and all support in the future.

A very special thank you to Dr. Finbar Markey and Michelle McKeever who traveled from Louth and Crossmaglen respectively and James McCummiskey from the Armagh/Down branch to offer their support and encouragement as well as their wisdom.

Go raibh maith agat.
