After a little research into the voting pattern of the Irish people over the last 88 years. The most logical and only conclusion that can be arrived at is, we are a nation of complete and utter gobshites, dimwits, and morons (myself included).
As the same a pattern quickly emerged, it soon became crystal clear, that as a nation of people, who believe ourselves to be reasonably intelligent, well adjusted, educated and politically aware. By our voting record for 88 years, we continuously failed dismally to live up to that standard.
Did you know, that since 1932 (88 years ago) we the people of this island, only ever elected TWO types of Taoiseach.
Astonishing as it may seem, that is exactly what we did. Ireland, for over 88 years only ever had TWO types of Taoiseachs. Either a Fianna Fáil Taoiseach or Fine Gael Taoiseach.
Difficult to believe, but sadly the records prove it’s a fact. For over 88 years, we allowed ourselves to be ruled by TWO political Parties. Fianna Fáil and Fine Gael. And looking at the figures, it defies logic how we could be so gullible.
The following is what the records show. (some Taioseach’s served more than one term as Taioseach).
Eamon De Valera: Fianna Fail, total period as Taoiseach. 21 years, 2mths.
Bertie Ahern. Fianna Fail. total period as Taoiseach.. 10 years, 10mths.
Jack Lynch: Fianna Fail, total period as Taoiseach. 8 years, 9mths.
Sean Lemass; Fianna Fail. total period as Taoiseach. 7 years, 5mths.
Charles Haughey. Fianna Fail. total period as Taoiseach. 7 years, 3mths.
Albert Reynolds; Fianna Fail. total period as Taoiseach. 2 years, 10mths.
Brian Cowen; Fianna Fail. total period as Taoiseach. 2 years, 10mths.
Total; 61 years..
The above figures show, the WE, the fighting Irish, allowed ourselves to be RULED for SIXTY ONE years by a Fianna Fáil Taoiseach.
Not much to be proud of I’m sure you’ll agree.
So what happened when we didn’t vote Fianna Fáil, that’s when it becomes laughable.
We then went out and voted Fine Gael. And we then allowed ourselves to be ruled for over 37 years by a Fine Gaell Taoiseach..
W.T. Cosgrave; Fine Gael; Total period as Taoiseach. 9 years, 3 mths.
John A Costell; . Fine Gael. total period as Taoiseach. 6 years, 1mth.
Garret FitzGerald; Fine Gael. total period as Taoiseach. 4 years, 11 mths.
Liam Cosgrave; Fine Gael. total period as Taoiseach. 4years, 4 mths..
John Bruton; Fine Gael. total period as Taoiseach. 2 years, 6 mths.
Enda Kenny; Fine Gael. total period as a waster Taoiseach.4 years, 11 mths Leo Varadkar Fine Gael, total period Taoiseach 3 years 7 mths
There ya go folks, over 88 years we have willingly allowed our lives to be ruled by either a Fianna Fáil Taoiseach or a Fine Gael Taoiseach.
And at the next General Election, once again you have to opportunity to continue voting for either a Fine Gael Taoiseach or Fianna Fáil Taoiseach.
Or, we could rewrite Irish History, by not repeating our mistakes. And vote for change.
As a footnote, I must point out that during the existence of the Free State (6th December 1921 – 29th December 1937) the head of the Government was known President of the Executive Council. and comprised of members of Sinn Féin (old IRA) and Cumann na nGaedhael (the party that usurped the Irish Republic established by the wish and will of the people January 21st 1919 through a civil war)
But I’m sure you all are well versed in our history. .

I respect the fact that you are all adults and are more the capable of making your own decision on who to vote for.
