Nothing puts into perspective the la-la land our government and their media lapdogs operate in while taking a second or two to look at economic forecasts from the rest of the world. The entire rest of the world is gearing up for financial Armageddon this year, our government were holding “Motion of Confidences” in themselves to pat themselves on the back for an economic job well done last year.
Except that’s not how it works in the real world. By the same “good boy of Europe” policies that have created theoretical growth in Ireland’s GDP this year, our economy is also linked intrinsically to what happens in Europe and America. Nothing that happens here matters if the Eurozone is teetering on the brink of devastation. It’s one thing for our politicians not to see that; intellect is anathema to Fine Gael membership. But for their pandering worshippers on social media comment boards, etc., not to realise the most basic fundamental rules of globalised capitalist economics?
Ireland unfortunately exists within a bubble of its own self-satisfying ignorance, just as it did throughout the Celtic Tiger. Unfortunately it will be the same people proudly beating their chests and declaring how they intend to pay the water charges and vote for Fine Gael in the next elections, based on this erroneous economic data that fails to take into account anything outside the realm of pure academia, that will suffer the hardest for it.
Heres some predictions from the world top economists, Im sure they know what their talking about thats why we call them experts
