Gardai not knowing their own job and force water meter installations

This situation with Gardai not seeming to know their own job and overstepping their authority is getting beyond a joke. They seem to forget they took an oath to uphold the constitution. They forget that they are there to protect individual rights, and adhere to the basic premise of innocence.

I hereby solemnly and sincerely declare before God that _ I will faithfully discharge the duties of a member of the Garda Siochana with fairness, integrity, regard for human rights, diligence and impartially, upholding the Constitution and the Laws and according equal respect to all people, {2005.} {No.20} Garda Siochana Act 2005. While I continue to be a member, I will to the best of my skill and knowledge discharge all my duties according to Law, and I do not belong to, and will not remain a member form, belong to or subscribe to, any Political party or secret society whatsoever.

What do they think they are doing trying to force this woman into a police van when she has done nothing to warrant it? Where in any sane jurisdiction is it alright to kidnap people against their will and manhandle them into a police van without cause, herding them, treating them like animals. What kind of training, or lack of training are the Gardai getting, as they seem to have no idea what they are doing and where their jurisdiction ends.

DDI demand the minister responsible for this fiasco make a statement about the the standard of training Gardai are receiving and what she intends to do to re-educate these men and women to know their correct role in society.

Our politicians have created a society where they believe people serve the state instead of the state serving the people, and they seem to have trained the Gardai to be the enforcers of that false and extremely unhealthy idea. It is no surprise coming from a party like Fine Gael that was born out of a fascist movement. This must change and soon before we go back down the road Europe went in the 1930s.

DDI is a party that wishes to ensure the state is there to protect the rights of the individual (not to stamp all over them as we see here). If a government and a police service is to serve the public properly then it’s role is not to enforce its will, it is to protect individual rights.
