Fine Gael Office Burned In Mayo, The Wrong Way To Go About Resolving Issues

Michelle Mulherin

This evening Gardai were called to a building in Ballina, Mayo after they received a report of a broken window to discover the building was ablaze.

The fire was extinguished later by emergency services and its believed no one was in the building at the time.

The Office belonged to Fine Gael TD Michelle Mulherin who said thankfully nobody was hurt.

“Gardaí are investigating an incident at my office in Ballina, Co. Mayo, this evening (Tuesday).  Thankfully nobody was injured,” she wrote.

“I await the outcome of the Garda investigation and will be making no further comment at this stage.”

The TD was in the media over €2000 worth of phone calls to Kenya were claimed as expenses.

But lets not get embroiled in that controversy and instead concentrate on why her office was burned.

Ms Mulheirn is a member of a Fine Gael government who are despised by large number of the populace for the shambles they have made in the mismanagement of our country and the erosion of our democracy ever since they lied their way to coalition power in 2011.

This is a serious escalation of hatred and it blackens the democratic process reducing those who would have Fine Gael ousted to mere thugs. It is indeed sad events have come to this.

While we are all feeling the savage cuts this is not the way to hit back because it is not how politics should work, it hands the high moral ground to the ruling party. Absolutely nothing positive or good can ever come of violence.

This writer condemns the attack and asks that people try resolve things in a calm, peaceful democratic manner befitting this proud but broken nation.
