Ordinary folks had nothing to do with the economic collapse during Fianna Fail Brian Cowen’s watch, however, ordinary folks are expected to pay for the bailout of the bankers. This fiasco pushed many home owners into mortgage arrears.

The Land and Conveyancing Law Reform Act 2013 was signed into law in July of 2013. This law made it easier for the banks working through the courts to obtain an order for possession of registered land, to appoint a receiver and to sell the property of those who are behind in their mortgage payments.

Of the TDs who voted, 91 voted YES, 42 Voted NO and 32 were absent. Amoung the YES voters there were 3 independents who voted along with Fine Gael & Labour and they are:

Stephen Donnelly, Peter Mathews and Lucinda Creighton.

Remember politicians are feathering their nest while in office. They will be sending their CV’s to the large multinationals and billionaires they helped while in Government. Just take a look at the Board of Topaz.

However what people don’t seem to understand is the constitution of Ireland (Bunreacht na Heireann) 1937 protects all family dwellings. Article 40.5 which reads the following

IT REFERS TO THE DWELLING

LITERAL ENGLISH TRANSLATION

His place of residence is secure for every citizen, and it is

not permitted to go into it forcibly except in accordance

with law.

ENGLISH TEXT

The dwelling of every citizen is inviolable and shall not

be forcibly entered save in accordance with law.

Then there is also article 41.1.1 which reads

THE FAMILY AN TEAGHLACH

LITERAL ENGLISH TRANSLATION

The State acknowledges that the Family is the basic primary

group-unit of/for society according to nature, and that it

is a moral institution which has inalienable invincible rights

which are more ancient and higher than any human statute.

ENGLISH TEXT

The State recognises the Family as the natural primary

and fundamental unit group of Society, and as a moral

institution possessing inalienable and imprescriptible rights,

antecedent and superior to all positive law.
